Why a National Conference?

Earthquakes can happen anywhere, in almost any state.
40 out of 50 states have moderate to very high earthquake hazards.  At least 75 million Americans are affected.

Earthquakes don't happen every year, but when they do, the costs are enormous.
Cost to the U.S. economy averages $4.4 billion per year.

When the earthquake occurs, impacts on our customers, clients, and communities will be widespread.
Planning, preparing and mitigating earthquake effects reduce the social and economic losses we will face. People at every level in business, government, and communities have a role to play in managing earthquake risk.

What is Our Vision for the Conference?
The purpose of the conference is to provide a national forum for dialogue among emergency managers, earthquake researchers, government officials, and business leaders that build common ground to mitigate losses from earthquakes and increase social and economic resiliency.
